Sesame Street: Will.i.am’s Song “What I Am”

I love to see rich and famous people using their celebrity and money for good things. This video of Will.i.am on Sesame Street is exactly that! A great catchy tune with an amazingly positive message that applies to both the kids and parents watching Sesame Street and hopefully trickles over to those of you without kids who would have never seen this on Sesame Street.

Enjoy!

Life is like a dream…

When you are completely stressed out about work or your job is just overwhelming and all you can think about, you tend to have work dreams or work-mares. You don't only have these types of dreams with work though, you also run into them when your thoughts are completely consumed by something, like when you have a crush on someone. You think about them 24-7 and everything reminds you of them. It should be no surprise that this person may make an appearance in your dreams. So yes, I am telling you that you have the power to control your dreams in some fashion, but you can't just lay in bed at the end of the day and say to yourself "I really want to dream about this or that tonight." You have to completely consume yourself with "this or that" in order for it to work. Your entire day must consist of what you want to dream about that night.

What does this have to do with life? Far too many people think that they can just wish for money when they are broke or hope for love when they are lonely. They think they can continue doing the same thing they are already doing and money, success, love, happiness will just happen to them one day. Well, I'm sorry, life does not work like that. If you truly want something, you must consume yourself with it. Just like a dream, when you learn to control what you do, what you think about and who you surround yourself with, you will find that dreams and reality aren't far off from each other.

Oddly, you will find that your dreams are sometimes easier to control than your life so I suggest starting there. Consume and target your thoughts on something for an entire day. Really think about, think about in detail, make up scenarios of how it will look, what will happen, what it will be like, how it will feel, and so on. If your dreams reflect your thoughts for that day you will be 90% further along in accomplishing your life dreams than most. It may take a few days, a week, a month, or more, but when that dream happens, you will remember it! And when you have harnessed the power to control something that you thought was impossible to control, it will seem almost too easy to start applying that same principle to your life in order to accomplish anything you can dream of.

Whether you are trying to control your dreams at night or turn your life into a dream, just remember to stay focused. Your every thought must be about your dream or how it may affect your dream. Walt Disney hit the nail right on the head with impeccable accuracy when he was quoted saying "If you can dream it, you can do it." I see this quote all of the time and use it myself whenever I can, but I don't think people truly realize the power and truth behind that statement.

It’s your fault!

This may offend some of you, but you will not hear an apology from me. I am sick of hearing people place blame onto others for things that happen in their lives. And if they cannot find a specific person to blame, they blame some vague concept or ideal like God or the Government for their problems. Most recently I have heard an amazing amount of blame placed on our Government, Banks, and Businesses for the loss of peoples homes and jobs. I will admit, they have played a part, but they are not the reason. You are! The government did not make you take out a mortgage you could not afford. And by afford I do not mean your credit score tells you that you can afford it.

Any time you take out a loan on something you cannot afford to pay cash for on the spot, you are putting yourself at the mercy of the bank, your employer and anyone else you depend on to pay that loan. When one of those people decide to tighten the screws and make it hard for you to pay your loan, it is still your fault. You signed the loan! The bank didn't force you into signing your mortgage and agreeing to the terms you can no longer meet. Your employer who fired you didn't sign your mortgage...

That brings me to my next point of all of the people crying about the job market and not being able to find jobs, or hold onto the jobs they have. Look around you, there are millions of others that are not having any troubles finding or keeping jobs. The problem is you, not the market! You did not make yourself valuable enough to hold on to. You decided to show up to work and be lazy, or unpleasant to deal with. You decided to get comfortable, stop learning, and stop trying to do more. You are the one who thought the company owed you something and forgot that you were there to server them and they only owed you the paycheck that you agreed to. "But Steve, I couldn't help it, the company completely closed down or laid off everyone." Stop crying about it and get out there and find something else. "But I can't find any jobs in my field." Oh man, the excuses pile on don't they! Get out there and learn a new skill, or lower your high, mighty, yet still unemployed standards and take a job that you feel is beneath you! I see help wanted signs every day at gas stations, grocery stores, fast food restaurants, and many other places so do not try tell me you cannot find a job.

There are very few circumstances where YOU are not to blame for what happened such as a natural disaster. However, you are to blame for how you deal with that disaster. Life can be hard and extremely painful at times, but you and only you can determine where you go from that point. Stop waiting for God, the Government, or someone other than yourself to come and save you. Stop complaining, making excuses and placing blame for why you can't. You do not inherently "deserve" anything in this life, you are born with no rights or freedoms. These are things you must work for and earn every day of your life.

Bad Facebook App Developer!

I recently created a Facebook application for one of my websites (Fraestro.com) and was amazed at all of the information I could obtain about Facebook users who decide to use my application. I think the majority of Facebook users play their games, take their quizzes and surveys, and use different applications on Facebook without realizing what they are handing over to these application developers. When you blindly click on that "Allow" button when an application requests access to your Facebook information you could be doing something as harmless as giving that application developer just enough information needed to run their application, or you could be handing all of your personal information and your friends personal information over to them on a silver platter. If requested and allowed by you, they could have the ability to see every single one of your friends, what they like, their email address, home address, phone number and an absurd amount of other data. Aside from the data collection they can also request access to perform actions on your behalf within Facebook. This means they can send your friends messages, post stuff to your wall, post stuff to your friends walls, and basically use your Facebook account to their will.

I showed this to my wife and in her amazement she scrambled into her Facebook account and realized that she had given hundreds of applications access to pretty much all of her information without realizing it. All of the little quizzes, games, and survey's you take on Facebook have and use your information!

The purpose of this article is not to scare you away from using Facebook applications, but to inform you about them so that you can be more careful and selective about the Facebook applications you give access to.

To see a list of the applications that currently have access to your account, login to your Facebook account and go up to "Account -> Application Settings" at the top right hand corner of your screen. On the following page drop down the "Show:" drop-down menu and select "Authorized". This will show you all of the applications you have given access to your Facebook information. To the right of each application you can click on the "Edit Settings" link to see what that application has access to see and do within your Facebook account.
